Family is at the heart of a young person's journey toward wellbeing. The encouragement, understanding, and everyday presence of family members form the foundation of resilience and confidence. At More Than a Thought, we believe that when families are empowered and involved, young people are better supported to navigate challenges and embrace opportunities for growth.

We actively work to include parents, carers, siblings, and other important people in a young person’s support network. By fostering open communication and trust, we help families learn practical ways to nurture good mental health together. Our approach is collaborative: we don’t just offer advice from a distance, but walk alongside families, listening to their perspectives and co-creating strategies that fit their unique circumstances.

Recognising that parents themselves need support, we offer a dedicated parent peer support group. This group provides a welcoming space where parents can share their experiences, exchange advice, and draw strength from one another. Facilitated by those who understand the unique challenges faced by families, the peer support group helps to reduce isolation and build connections, equipping parents to better support their children’s journey.
Through shared activities and honest conversations, families can discover new strengths, break down barriers, and build a safe, supportive environment where young people feel valued and understood. When the whole family is engaged and supported, everyone benefits—and young people, especially, gain the confidence to find their own voice and thrive.
